Organic cotton is grown without the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. In addition, federal regulations prohibit the use of genetically engineered seed for organic farming.
Earlybirds certified organic cotton has been approved by third-party certification organisation SKAL on Netherlands, verifying that the organic producers have used methods and materials allowed in the process of organic production. The methods and materials have a low impact on the environment and the organic production systems replenish and maintain soil fertility, reduce the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers, and build biologically diverse agriculture. The SKAL of Netherlands certification guarantees organic standards have been met.
